This guide provides information about the types of federal, state, and local disaster assistance services available in California. Although some of the resources are restricted to individuals or households with eligible immigration status, there are many services available to all Californians impacted by disasters.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) designated 211 as the 3-digit number for information and referrals to social services and other assistance in 2000. The 211 service is provided by more than 200 local organizations that are committed to serving their communities. These are local experts who make finding help easier. Their team of compassionate, highly trained community specialists are available to help you access the best local resources and services to address any need.

Guidance for safe and efficient evacuation during wildfires. 

Cal OES serves as the state’s leadership hub during all major emergencies and disasters. This includes responding, directing, and coordinating state and federal resources and mutual aid assets across all regions to support the diverse communities across the state. Cal OES also supports local jurisdictions and communities through planning and preparedness activities, training, and facilitating the immediate response to an emergency through the longer‐term recovery phase. During this process, Cal OES serves as the state’s overall coordinator and agent to secure federal government resources through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

DDAR partners with the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) to support customers with disabilities, and other access and functional needs (AFN) through the Disability Disaster Access and Resources (DDAR) Program. DDAR will provide support to customers with disabilities or other AFN before, during and after a PSPS outage
